Feel Celebrity-Confident About Your Smile with Veneers

Few personal attributes exude as much confidence as a beautiful, brilliant smile. When your smile is attractive and your teeth look great, smiling often just comes naturally. But if your teeth aren’t looking their best, the opposite is true: You wind up smiling less — and feeling more self-conscious about your appearance. If that sounds familiar, it’s because research shows those are common reactions among many people whose smiles are less than picture-perfect.

In a survey conducted by the American Dental Association, about 40% of people under the age of 35 and almost a third of those between ages 35 and 65 said life in general is less satisfying because of the way their teeth look. About one in five survey respondents said their less-than-perfect teeth interfere with their ability to successfully interview for employment, and about one-fourth of those interviewed said they feel embarrassed about their teeth and avoid smiling as a result.

Of course, you could spend months or years correcting all the issues that make you feel bad about the way your teeth look. But that’s a lot of time — and money — to invest. The good news is that veneers can provide many of the same cosmetic benefits as more complex procedures and treatments, but in a fraction of the time — and at a fraction of the cost, too. In fact, veneers are so versatile and so effective in improving the way teeth look that they’re the “secret ingredient” in a lot of celebrity smiles, too. At A Beautiful Smile Dentistry, we offer the most advanced veneer technology to help our patients correct the way their teeth look, so they feel and look more confident and more attractive. Here’s how veneers work.

Super thin, super durable

Veneers are very thin “covers” that are adhered to the surfaces of your visible teeth. At A Beautiful Smile Dentistry, we use veneers made of state-of-the-art porcelain for results that look and feel like natural teeth. The porcelain is extremely strong, but it’s also extremely thin, which means once they’re in place, you won’t be able to tell you’re wearing them. Their translucent design means they reflect light just like natural teeth, allowing them to blend in for a beautifully natural result. Plus, porcelain veneers are tinted and shaped on a patient-by-patient basis for truly custom results.

Veneers can be used to correct the appearance of many cosmetic issues including:

Veneers can be applied to multiple teeth to completely restore and transform your smile, or you can choose to have a veneer on only one tooth, making this one of the most customizable cosmetic dentistry treatments available today.

The veneer process

Veneers can be applied in just two visits — one for your “fitting,” and one for the actual application of the veneer. Once we determine veneers are a good choice for your treatment goals, your first visit will involve preparing your tooth for your veneer. This process involves removing a very thin layer of material from the surface of your tooth. Removing this small amount of tooth material is necessary to allow the surface of your new veneer to become level with the surfaces of your neighboring teeth. Without this step, your veneer would stick out and be very obvious.

Once the tooth is prepared, we’ll take an impression of your teeth and use it as a model for your new veneer. The impression is sent to a dental lab that specializes in veneers. Finally, we’ll put a temporary veneer on your tooth to protect it until your next visit. At your second appointment, we’ll carefully remove the temporary veneer, clean your tooth surface, and then apply a special adhesive before mounting your veneer and adjusting it for a perfect fit. A gentle buffing for added shine, and you’ll be all set to flash your new, beautiful smile.
